Dr. Michael D. Krause is a security professional, leader, logistician, and former military officer with extensive international experience. His distinguished career includes military service in two wars across four continents and participation in five emergency operations. A seasoned executive in the fields of security, strategy, and supply chain management, Dr. Krause serves as the Founder and President of KRI and as Chairman of SecureChain.
Dr. Krause’s experience is concentrated in three principal areas: military service in two wars and five emergency operations spanning four continents; entrepreneurial leadership at the executive level within organizations focused on security and strategy; and the design and delivery of training programs in strategic security planning, operations, communications, negotiation, and leadership development for military, industrial, and academic institutions.
Michael D. Krause graduated from Norwich University in 1964 with a Bachelor’s degree in History. He subsequently earned both his Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Georgetown University and is also a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College. Throughout his military career, Dr. Krause held a variety of command and staff assignments in Vietnam, the United States, and Europe. He commanded the 19th Maintenance Battalion of V Corps in Giessen, West Germany, and served as Chief of Logistics Plans for the 22nd Support Command in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
During and following the First Gulf War, Dr. Krause specialized in military history and operational strategy. He taught military history, strategy, and logistics at both the United States Military Academy and the National War College. He later served at the National War College at Fort McNair in Washington, D.C., within the Joint Studies Division. His assignments also included Deputy Chief of Military History and Deputy Commander of the U.S. Army Military Center, as well as service with the Consolidated Analysis Center.
Dr. Krause further served on the investigative staff of the U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Committee and contributed to initiatives related to operational theaters under the responsibility of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). In addition, he was appointed to the Army Science Board, advising both the Secretary of the Army and the Chief of Staff of the Army for a period of ten years. During this tenure, his work on “Accelerating Army Deployment to the Battlefield” became widely recognized as a transformative reference for integrating commercial capabilities into military operational planning.
Dr. Krause retired from the United States Army with the rank of Colonel in 1992 and subsequently became the Founder and Chairman of SecureChain–SeaDefense, LLC. Over the past decade, through the SecureChain–SeaDefense partnership developed in collaboration with Enver Atik, he has been actively engaged in projects involving critical infrastructure protection, logistics security, border security, pipeline security, advanced access control systems, and operational security solutions. These initiatives have supported both public and private sector projects across multiple regions, particularly throughout the Middle East.
Throughout his career, Dr. Krause has remained committed to advancing strategic security, operational resilience, and international cooperation, bringing together military expertise, commercial innovation, and practical solutions to complex security challenges worldwide.
